Stop Staring! Fall ’12

Stop Staring! designer Alicia Estrada found inspiration in early Hollywood and Mexican cinema stars—including Delores del Rio, Maria Felix, Marga Lopez and Lupe Velez—for her Fall ’12 collection, shown March 12 at Style Fashion Week L.A.

This is not Estrada’s first time showing at Style Fashion Week L.A., and the event’s venue, Vibiana, provided the perfect dramatic backdrop for the film noir–inspired collection.

The designer masterfully combined plaids in a dress and coat ensemble and then repeated the black-and-white plaid in a smart pair of high-waist, wide-leg trousers. The black “Frida” dress featured a gold Greek key trim and was topped with an innovative vest that draped artfully across the back.

For the finale, Estrada showed a movie star–worthy gold-sequined dress that had the audience cheering.—Alison A. Nieder
