Restaurant Population Exploding in the Fashion District

Terroni on Beverly Boulevard

You know the Fashion District is on the upswing by the number of new boutiques and restaurants flocking to the area.

Spring Street, which used to be known as the Wall Street of the West, seems to be garnering the most new eateries choosing to become urban pioneers.

Two new restaurants are slated to open before the end of this year at the old National City Bank building at 8th and Spring streets. A third restaurant will open in the building at the beginning of 2013.

Terroni, a New York-style Italian restaurant born in Toronto, is busy putting the finishing touches on the ornate ceiling housed on the ground floor of the 1924 Beaux Arts bank building now converted into lofts.

Max Steffanelli, the managing partner of the eatery and a native Italian, was at the semi-finished locale today, checking out the construction of the 6,000-square-foot place. There will be a bar, wine shop next door, and plenty of space to eat.

He and his partners were predicting a mid-November to early December opening when they will feature their signature homemade pasta, homemade bread, pizzas, Italian appetizers, and European wine list.

Terroni already has a location on Beverly Boulevard, not too far from Fairfax Avenue. This would be their second U.S. location. They have three restaurants in Toronto.

Next to open in November is Crane's Hollywood, which had a locale in Hollywood but closed it. They will be in the basement of the buidling, sharing basement space with Peking Tavern, a north Chinese-style restaurant that opens early next year.

Can't wait to hit the lunch trail when these places open up.
