La Jolla Group Taps Exec for International Expansion

La Jolla Group named Ian Calvesbert international general manager, a new position at the Irvine, Calif.–based apparel licensing and action-sports company.

Calvesbert will be based at a LJG satellite office in Durham, England. “There is a lot of opportunity in the wider European, Middle Eastern and Southern Hemisphere territories,” he said.Before joining LJG, Calvesbert served as EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) managing director of Fox Head Europe, where he directed the European growth of distribution, wholesale and retail for Fox Head Inc., the California-headquartered maker of Fox motocross apparel.

LJG runs a portfolio of brands that include surf labels O’Neill and Rusty, skate line The Berrics, motorcycle line FMF, and motocross line Metal Mulisha. The company had concentrated on expanding domestically until last year, when it hired Doug Iwasa as its general manager for Canada.

LJG recently expanded its headquarters into a 200,000-square-foot facility in Irvine. The company runs a fleet of 11 boutiques in the United States.—A.A.
