'GREAT GATSBY' FOR FALL '13

Sue Wong

Baz Luhrmann’s much-anticipated film version of “The Great Gatsby” opens on May 10, but Los Angeles designer Sue Wong got the Roaring Twenties theme started early with an April 19 birthday celebration at her historic home, The Cedars (once home to 1920s film star Norma Talmadge), in Los Angeles’ Los Feliz neighborhood.

Partygoers—many dressed in ’20s-inspired Sue Wong gowns and cocktail dresses—got an up-close look at Wong’s Fall ’13 collection, which included flirty fringed dresses and glamorous gowns embellished with beads, feathers and embroidery. Models were topped with towering feathered headpieces to complete the Old Hollywood look.

The evening drew several celebrity guests, including actors Thomas Jane, Kelsey and Kayte Walsh Grammer, Stacy Keach, Ryan McPartlin, Danielle Kirlin, Malana Lea, Lauren Mayhew, Erin Cahill, Bethany Joy Lenz, Jen Lilley, Helene Cardona, DJ Shy, members of pop girl band Blush, and cast members from several Bravo reality shows.

The designer was introduced by enlightenment artist Master Romio Shrestha and serenaded by Israeli opera singer Michael Peer. Singer Wendy Rae and guitarist John Reynolds performed jazz-era songs before Wong and her guests took to the dance floor.
