Los Angeles Fashion Council Opens Venue for Free Designer Shows

The Los Angeles Fashion Council, started by British-born Los Angeles resident Kelsi Smith, is taking another swing at helping emerging designers get some fashion exposure.

She is partnering up with Couture Los Angeles, the nightclub/restaurant in Hollywood, to organize monthly fashion shows where a number of designers can show their collections on the runway for free.

The idea is to discover great new talent. After each show, looks from each collection will be loaded up to Facebook to be voted on by a Facebook audience. A winner from each week will go forward to the grand finale on Sept. 28 where a panel will decide the winner of the grand prize, which is a free show at the next Los Angeles Fashion Council's fashion week for the Spring 2014 season.

The first show is June 22 and others will follow on July 27, Aug. 31 and Sept. 28.
