What Did Old Navy Donate to the Philippines?
Last November, one of the deadliest typhoons ever to hit the Philippines killed 6,200 people. The devastation of Typhoon Haiyan was terrible and many of the survivors lost everything they had.
As part of the ongoing effort to provide relief, Old Navy Inc., a retail division of Gap Inc. in San Francisco, is donating 100,000 pieces of clothing that should be arriving soon to the Southeast Asian country.
Old Navy is partnering with the non-profit International Relief and Development agency whose staff has been on the ground since the storm struck, to distribute the clothing directly to typhoon-affected families.
In addition, Gap Inc. employee donations to CARE were matched by the company and totaled $95,000. Also, The Gap Foundation gave a $65,000 grant to CARE to help with long-term recovery for shelter, infrastructure and economic development.
