Yogawear and Sweaty Yoga

Their mantra is: "Are you ready to sweat with your tribe?"

Y7, the Brooklyn-based outfit known for its hip-hop hot yoga, is opening its first West Coast studio and store this Saturday on the shopping and eating street of Melrose Avenue.

Located at 8270 Melrose Ave., Y7 is a few blocks away from the Fred Segal store, the Nasty Gal outpost and the Crossroads vegan restaurant.

Y7 is taking over the space once occupied by men's clothing store Killion. The idea behind the studio is there are no full-length mirrors and the yoga experience is done to pump-up tunes under infrared heat and candlelight. At the store space, you can grab a T-shirt, hoodie or yoga mat.

Y7 is planning a pop-up location at The Standard Hotel in downtown L.A. on Jan. 12-13 and Jan. 19-20. That's how the Melrose location evolved. The company, started two years ago by husband-and-wife-team Mason and Sarah Levey, had a pop-up at Rebecca Minkoff's store on Melrose, which got such a good response the studio decided to branch out to Los Angeles.

If The Standard Hotel works out right, maybe Y7 will be making downtown Los Angeles a permanent fixture.
