New President at Citizens of Humanity as Williams Takes Over as CEO

Kathy Kweon joined Citizens of Humanity as president of the premium-denim lifestyle brand, replacing Amy Williams, who was promoted to chief executive officer.

Kweon was previously vice president and brand director at AG.

Williams has been with Citizens since 2009 and has been president since 2012. Under her leadership, the company launched several new brands, including A Gold E and Getting Back to Square One and the acquired Fabric Brand.

“As we continue to expand, it is critical to have the strongest leadership possible,” Williams said. “Over the last few years, we have cultivated our partnerships with top retailers but know there is more to do. Kathy’s strong record and knowledge of both the international and domestic markets offer us a unique opportunity that we simply could not pass up. All of us at COH are excited to work with her.”

The company also announced the addition of Hiro Ikuta to Citizens’ design team. Previously, he was with Itochu Corp. in Japan.

“We have always prided ourselves on sourcing and developing the best materials to be used in our products,” said Citizens of Humanity Chairman and founder Jerome Dahan. “As innovation in textiles and textile processing evolve, it is important to add team members who can help keep COH at the forefront of our industry and quality people like Hiro help us accomplish that goal. Our recently launched Sculpt capsule collection is an example of how new technology can create a product that shapes and holds the body unlike anything else on the market. Creativity is a collaborative process, and there can never be too many talented members on our design team.”

Founded in 2003, Citizens of Humanity designs, markets and produces the Citizens of Humanity, C-of-H Man, Goldsign and A Gold E brands in its vertical facility in Los Angeles.
