The White Collection

For their senior-year collection at Woodbury University, students were asked to bring something from their culture to create pieces that reflected their heritage.

Araksi Balyan said the thing she missed the most about her native Armenia was the winter snow. "I decided to bring the winter from Armenia to my collection," she said.

So Balyan designed a collection of all white clothes that were seen on the runway this last Sunday during LA Fashion Week at Union Station.

The budding designer used silk for some of the dresses and jumpsuits. Ankle-length skirts had faux fur trim around the bottom or faux fur was used for the lining of a white cape with a Mandarin collar.

A long duster coat with a laser-cut collar was draped over a short white romper and white ruched pants were paired with a white skirt with an uneven hem and a white blouse with a high collar and exaggerated shoulders.

High-waisted palazzo pants were matched with a cropped and pleated top that look very elegant.
