Bundle Up Like Beckham
Columbia Sportswear has teamed up with British soccer—ahem, football—team Manchester United to launch a line of outerwear designed for Man U fans around the world.
The collection for men, women and kids includes jackets and shells featuring the Manchester United and Columbia logos.
“Manchester United and Columbia share a strong heritage focused on our commitment to performance and innovation,” said Joe Boyle, senior vice president of Columbia merchandising and design. “With this in mind, we designed and developed this technical collection so that the world’s best fans can support their Club while enjoying the outdoors, regardless of the conditions.”
Three styles are designed for England’s crisp—and often rainy—weather. The Heatzone 1000 TurboDown Jacket has a 900-fill, water-resistant goose down core, a thermal reflective lining and Columbia’s “wave baffle” construction to eliminates the cold spots typically found in down jackets. The OutDry Extreme Diamond Shell provides 100 percent waterproof protection and the Barlow Pass 550 TurboDown Quilted Jacket is a classic style with a removable faux-fur hood.
