The Year in Fashion
2010 brought us moto chic, the clog, fur, animal prints, military jackets and a nostalgic return to the '70s. Looking back, we recall the key trends that emerged throughout the year. Inspiration included post-apocalyptic road warriors, vintage glamour from the leading ladies of “Mad Men,” Lady Gaga’s costume drama and the chic desert adventures of “Sex and the City 2.” As a result, trends spanned the gamut. Themes ranged from bold and protective “Body Armor” accessories to relaxed “Safari”-infused clothing and a “Retro Mix” of high waists and feminine, flirty floral prints. What do we have to look forward to for Spring 2011? More of the ’70s, bell-bottoms, clean white palettes, color blocking and long skirts for day, as well as the red carpet. And now, thanks to Rodarte, ballet looks à la “Black Swan.” Here is a look at the top trends of 2010 as featured in California Apparel News.
