Fashion Coterie, Designers & Agents and The Train

The hunt for new Fall fashion trends took center stage at the recent Fashion Coterie, Designers & Agents and The Train. The trade shows, which took place in New York from Feb. 12-16, ushered in key looks for Fall that celebrated femininity. With less emphasis on embellishment, styles have become more refined. Tailored looks emphasize silhouettes, fabrications and the design lines of the garment. Key trends included styles inspired by the Victorian and Edwardian eras, modern English country looks, 1960s mod styles and 1940s looks inspired by Hollywood glamour. Silhouettes ranged from skinny leg pants and pencil skirts to voluminous shapes with bubble skirts, puffy sleeves and wide-legged trousers. Key pieces to look for this season include trench coats, vests, shorts, capes, military-inspired jackets and above-the-knee and floor-length dresses. A rich palette in eggplant, forest, navy, orange, and yellow provide a colorful alternative to an otherwise neutral selection of black, gray and white. Details include buttons, ruffles, lace and subtle metallic treatments.
