Las Vegas Trends: Pop Goes Spring
"Girls just wanna have fun" could be the fashion mantra this Spring as prints, neon brights and an '80s revival lighten up Fall's serious mood. That was the look designers presented at the recent Las Vegas trade shows, which ran Aug. 20-23. And in true '80s style, it was a colorful affair. From pastels to printed denim and ethnic patterns, the look was all about eye-catching fashion. For those who prefer a clean aesthetic, bold and bright accessories made the fashion statement. Here are the key looks of the season.
Totally '80s
Bleached denim, high-top sneakers and bustiers-think '80s icons such as Cyndi Lauper and Madonna to inspire the fashion set for Spring.
Print Party
Continuing from Spring '12, prints are making a fashion statement all their own. A variety of eye-catching designs turned up on denim and ready-to-wear and especially matched sets.
I Want Candy
Spring's softer side comes in a pastel palette. Think South Beach chic as designers add sherbet shades to clothing and accessories.
Ethnic Chic
Ethnic style adds a multicultural flair to Spring's colorful mood. Bold prints come in everything from African to Filipino and Aztec designs.
Printed Denim
Printed denim is a "must have" for Spring. Wash treatments and designs such as artsy flowers, feathers and flags turned up in almost every collection.
Waisted
The waist is Spring's erogenous zone. From bustier tops to corsets and peplums, the waist is a cinch.
Dip Dye
Designers are getting creative with color this season. Everything from denim shirts to cut-off shorts is trimmed with colorful washes, paint and dip-dye treatments.
Day Glo
Get your glow on. Neon brights return à la the '80s, adding a fresh update to accessories, denim and ready-to-wear.
Black & White
Designers get graphic with black and white. Bold design lines, stripes, intricate patterns and shapes create the look.
