A soft natural aesthetic emerges for Spring as Los Angeles-based designers find inspiration in subtle tonal looks. A palette of cream, khaki, off-white and beige create a mysterious mood worthy of a film-noir heroine. Styles vary from Victorian lace dresses to cotton gauze gowns and linen jacket-and-short sets laced with gold threads. Rope, leather and wood trims decorate fabrics including cotton eyelet, linen and silk georgette. And white knit and crocheted pieces provide added texture. Spring's subtle, demure mood will be on the runway during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios, Gen Art's Fresh Faces in Fashion and at Los Angeles Fashion and Market Week events Oct. 14-25.
