Runway Report Fall '06: Clean Sophistication
Leggings, skinny pants, voluminous shapes and patent leather dominated the runway March 18-26 during Los Angeles Fashion Week. The shows at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Culver City, Calif., Gen Art's New Garde show, P.KaBu and other independent showings throughout Los Angeles were the platform to present the season's key looks. Designers hailing from Los Angeles, as well as an international contingent from Canada, Italy and Hong Kong, converged at the shows with a series of new trends for the season. Key looks included clean, modern, sophisticated shapes-a striking departure from Spring/Summer's natural theme. Black was the dominating color with such neutrals as gray emerging with new importance. Asian-themed styles and rock 'n' roll couture were prevalent, while trench coats, knitwear and such accessories as belts, gloves and tights completed the look for Fall '06.
