Spring 2013 Runway Report
Los Angeles Fashion Week showcased West Coast style as key trends emerged on the runway Oct. 10-20. Designers presented collections that ranged from sporty leathers to romantic dresses and sophisticated suitings. There was plenty of color to brighten up the season. Soft pastels were abundant, and bright neons added an '80s edge. Vibrant prints and graphic black-and-white patterns created an artsy touch. Perfectly Suited
Suits were a key trend for Fall, and this season, the look is updated with colorful fabrications and chic silhouettes.
Skirt Story
Skirts are a key silhouette of the season. The look is best when paired with a cropped top or jacket.
Romantic Notions
Designers looked to their softer side, creating clothing with a romantic mood. Lace, ruffles and floral embellishments are key details.
Ladylike
Designers channel vintage style to create ladylike looks. Think little black dresses, feminine floral prints and easy silhouettes.
Pattern Play
Prints are this season's "must have." Color combines with original artwork to create exquisite swimwear, suits, dresses and jeans.
Biker Chic
The biker jacket is a wardrobe staple, and for Spring, designers continue to offer new twists on the classic silhouette. Pastel colors, color blocking and innovative fabrics are key.
It's a Wash
Wash treatments are key for textiles. Think tie dye, bleached effects, ombré patterns and shibori techniques.
Good Sport
Sporty silhouettes are Spring's answer to cool. From baseball caps to tennis skirts and techy mesh fabrics, sportswear gets an athletic update.
Black Magic
Black is the new black. A perennial favorite, the look was chic sophistication on leather jackets, leggings and long dresses.
Hi and Low
From crop tops to uneven hems, designers played with proportions to create the effect of high and low styling.
Black and White
Graphic stripes and black-and-white patterns and bold blocks of color update key silhouettes such as biker jackets, jersey dresses and T-shirts.
Tube Suits
The tube suit is a breakout look for the season in solids and a multitude of colorful prints.
