  • ...Very hot conditions expected Thursday through early next
    week...
    .The hottest weather of the season thus far will impact inland
    areas starting Thursday. Temperatures will remain hot on Friday
    but may ease slightly as a disturbance brings some clouds to the
    area. Then very hot temperatures are expected Saturday through
    Tuesday. Temperatures will be around 20 degrees above normal for
    this time of year, and relief at night may be limited as lows in
    some areas could stay in the mid 60s to low 70s.
    ...EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON
    THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING...
    * Maximum Temperature: 102 to 110 degrees, except 98 to 104 on
    Friday.
    * Minimum Temperature: 60 to 74 degrees.
    * Locations include...Inland areas of southwest Oregon and
    northern California west of the Cascades including Medford,
    Grants Pass, Shady Cove, Ashland, Cave Junction, Williams,
    Agness, Obrien, Merlin, Happy Camp, Somes Bar, Etna, Fort
    Jones, Yreka, Grenada, Weed, Scott Bar, and Seiad Valley.
    * Impacts...Very high temperatures and limited relief overnight
    will increase chances for heat related illness, especially for
    sensitive groups and people without access to air
    conditioning. Heat stress is also possible for livestock and
    outdoor pets.

    Precautionary/preparedness actions...
    An Excessive Heat Watch means that a prolonged period of hot
    temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and
    high humidity will combine to create a DANGEROUS SITUATION in
    which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay
    in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on
    relatives and neighbors.
    Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
    possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
    evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
    stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
    possible and drink plenty of water.
