* AT 747 PM PST...DOPPLER RADAR AND AUTOMATED RAIN GAUGES INDICATED
THAT HEAVY RAIN WAS FALLING OVER THE AREA. AROUND 1.00 INCHES OF
RAIN HAS FALLEN DURING THE PAST 3 HOURS AND UP TO 2.00 INCHES
DURING THE PAST 6 HOURS OVER THE BURN SCARS. A HEAVY BAND OF RAIN
IS CURRENTLY MOVING OVER THE BURN SCARS AND IS EXPECTED TO PERSIST
FOR THE NEXT FEW HOURS. FLASH FLOODING IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN
SHORTLY.
* PERSONS TRAVELING IN THE VALLEY FIRE BURN AREA ESPECIALLY AROUND
HIGHWAY 175, BOTTLE ROCK ROAD, LOCH LOMOND ROAD, SEIGLER CANYON
ROAD, BIG CANYON ROAD, BUTTS CANYON ROAD AND OTHER LOCAL ROADS
WITHIN AND IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE BURN AREA SHOULD BE ALERT FOR
PROBABLE ROAD PROBLEMS DUE TO FLOODING, ROCK AND DEBRIS FLOWS.
LARGE PORTIONS OF THESE ROUTES ARE LOCATED IN THE SEVERELY BURNED
AREAS OF THE VALLEY FIRE. RIVERS AND CREEKS OF PARTICULAR CONCERN
INCLUDES ANDERSON CREEK, BIG CANYON CREEK, DRY CREEK, HARBIN CREEK,
PUTAH CREEK, BUTTS CREEK, COPSEY CREEK, SEIGLER CREEK AND KELSEY
CREEK BASINS. SEVERELY BURNED AREAS HAVE LIMITED CAPACITY TO ABSORB
LARGE AMOUNTS OF RAINFALL, LEADING TO INCREASED RUNOFF.
* THE SEVERELY BURNED AREAS ARE OF PARTICULAR CONCERN. THIS INCLUDES
THE ROCKY, DAVIS, CACHE, BEAR, SODA, HUNTING, ETICUERA, AND JERICHO
CREEK BASINS. THESE BURNED AREAS ABSORB LESS RAINFALL, LEADING TO
ENHANCED RUNOFF. THOSE TRAVELING ALONG HIGHWAY 16, HIGHWAY 20,
MORGAN VALLEY, BERRYESSA-KNOXVILLE ROAD, JERUSALEM GRADE, BUTTS
CANYON AND OTHER ROADS IN THE BURN AREA SHOULD BE ALERT FOR
PROBABLE ROAD PROBLEMS DUE TO FLOODING, ROCK AND DEBRIS FLOWS.
USERS OF THE CACHE CREEK NATURAL AREA AND THE KNOXVILLE RECREATION
AREA SHOULD BE ALERT FOR FLOODING, ROCK AND DEBRIS FLOWS.
