Sneakers are a growing obsession in the streetwear market, and Los Angeles’ cachet as a streetwear capital grew when the Adidas Original store opened at the corner of Melrose and Fairfax avenues this month. More than 300 people partied at the grand opening, held March 16.
The 2,465-square-foot store is designed with concrete walls and an exposed ceiling. More than 60 percent of the store’s retail mix will be made up of apparel for men, women and children.
Portland, Ore.–based Adidas United States will open another Adidas Original store in Philadelphia in April. —Andrew Asch
