Ferragamo Designer Sighting

Ferragamo menswear designer Massimiliano Giornetti visited Los Angeles for a June 2 charity event at Ferragamo’s Rodeo Drive store. The gala shopping event will raise funds for victims of this year’s devastating earthquakes in Italy.

On June 1, Giornetti dropped by the Salvatore Ferragamo store in Los Angeles’ Beverly Center mall. This week is the one-year anniversary for this Beverly Center store, which is Ferragamo’s only boutique devoted to menswear.

Giornetti, who wore a knit blazer over a cardigan sweater at the shop, said he took inspiration from Los Angeles fashion. He also said the foundations for menswear have not changed much in the past century. But blazers, shirts, ties and pants have increasingly become more comfortable in the past 40 years. He also had this fashion advice for men: “Do not dress like a rock star if you are not a rock star.”

But can’t we dream, Massimiliano?

The global debut of Ferragamo’s Spring/Summer 2010 men’s collection is scheduled to take place at a runway show June 22 in Milan.
