Chanteuse Takes a Burlesque Bow at Coco de Mer

Chanteuse's Chenoa Faun at Coco de Mer

With a brief burlesque show, lingerie and fashion line Chanteuse celebrated its debut at the Coco de Mer boutique at 8618 Melrose Ave. in West Hollywood.

The soiree had the ambiance of a risque, speakeasy party of the 1920s as Chanteuse's creative director, Chenoa Faun, shined a small spotlight on a dancer during the burlesque dance. However, Faun hoped her line would shine a light on the chanteuse in every woman, specifically one with an eye for vintage fashion.

The 1-year-old San Francisco-based line is inspired by the lingerie of the turn of the 20th century, the Flapper era and the pin-up years of the 1950s. Chanteuse's pin-up Shorts, French knickers and ready-to-wear dresses are constructed out of eco-friendly fabrics such as bamboo and organic cotton. The line is made in fair-trade workshops in Bali. Some of the label's retail price points are $60 for the French knickers and $180 for the pin-up shorts. “This line honors female singers, love and music,” Faun said.
