Forever 21 Expands Fashion Island Store

Forever 21 is on the move again. On Feb. 22, the Fashion Island retail center, located in Newport Beach, Calif., announced that an existing Forever 21 store at the mall is going to move buildings and more than triple the size of its square footage.

By late summer, Forever 21 will move from its current 10,000-square-foot digs into a two-story, 36,307-square-foot space formerly occupied by a Circuit City electronics store.

The store will undergo a renovation, according to a Fashion Island representative. The exterior will be covered with a detailed Italian-inspired faccedil;ade. The interior of the store will be dominated by a grand staircase. The expanded store will carry Forever 21’s most popular lines, including Twelve by Twelve, Heritage 1981 and Love 21.

Also in 2010, Forever 21 is expected to open a 90,000-square-foot department store in New York City’s Times Square. Also planned are a Las Vegas store and three stores in Japan. According to the company’s Web site, it also is scheduled to open stores at Los Angeles’ Westside Pavilion and the Camarillo Outlet mall in Camarillo, Calif. Other stores are planned in West Covina, Calif.; Albany, N.Y.; and Hampton, Va.—Andrew Asch
