Kitson Opening New Stores

Kitson Malibu at the Malibu Lumber Yard retail center

Summer 2010 should be a hit season for the high-profile Kitson boutique chain.

On June 10, the boutique chain's owner, Fraser Ross, opened a Kitson Kitson Kids store. It’s located in a 1,700-square-foot space at the luxury retail center Malibu Lumber Yard in Malibu, Calif. One-half of the store will offer kiddies’ clothes; the other half will sell women’s accessories and shoes.

The new store is housed in the space of a former Theory boutique. Since the 2009 debut of the Lumber Yard, Kitson also maintained a 2,000-square-foot store at the exclusive center. This store is called Kitson Malibu, and it offers men’s and women’s fashions, with a focus on flip-flops, shorts and other togs for a Malibu stay.

On Aug. 6, Kitson will open a 7,000-square-foot emporium at the Santa Monica Place retail center, located adjacent to the high-profile Third Street Promenade retail district in Santa Monica. It’s also adjacent to the Pacific Ocean. “We’re going to appeal to the beach,” Ross said of the clothes he would sell at the new center. We’re going to carry a lot of swimwear.” Stay tuned.
