Robertson's Rocking Fashion's Night Out

DELUKA performs at Intermix

Los Angeles’ Robertson Boulevard lived up to its reputation for sizzle with a rock’n’ roll block party for Fashion’s Night Out.

The street’s Intermix store transformed into a nightclub for the block party. English rock band DELUKA performed for a cheering crowd at the boutique. But partying did not get in the way of sales said Summer Holl, Intermix’s West Coast district manager. “I was afraid to dim the lights and give it a party atmosphere,” she said. “But people are trying things on. They are shopping.”

The rock theme continued at the John Varvatos store, revelers posed for iconic rock photographer Robert Knight’s camera. Knight documented the performances of rock greats such as Jimi Hendrix and the Rolling Stones.

The shopping and the partying continued all over Robertson. Shoppers were served cupcakes and drinks at the Tory Burch boutique. At Beach Bunny Swimwear, partygoers posed for photos with images of Kardashian sisters in the background. Of course the Kardashians were posing in Beach Bunny’s lingerie inspired bikinis.

All boutique owners interviewed said night’s turn-out was much greater than Fashion’s Night Out debut in 2009.”Last year we were one of the only stores that had parties,” said Meaghan Flaherty, brand manager of Moods of Norway. “This year almost every store participated and people really turned out.”

Moods of Norway contributed to the festivities with a barbecue and a raffle. The grand prize was a ride in Moods of Norway’s limo.
