NEW YORK—The New York edition of Capsule's menswear trade show drew buyers to a loft space in New York's Chelsea district July 18-19. Exhibitors took up four floors of space and consisted of a global mix of contemporary men's brands.

The Spring/Summer 2012 show was the largest New York one to date with 176 designers and 3500 attendees, according to co-founder Edina Sultanik.

Capsule was set up next door to the streetwear-centric Agenda show, which meant some crossover of attendees.

Greg Ullery of Riviera Club says the vibe of the show was positive."Everyone always says it's like a family reunion with the traveling circus of shows," said Ullery. Riviera Club also showed at Capsule in Paris and Berlin. Ullery creates Riviera Club alongside Joe Sadler and Derek Buse. The Santa Monica, Calif.-based line presented a Palm Springs-inspired collection for Spring/Summer 2012.

"Capsule has such a good buzz about the show and the best buyers know about it and even buyers who have never come here before that are looking for good brands come here," said Bill Hebner, operations manager at Los Angeles-based Freshjive.
