Mandula's Los Angeles Debut

Canadian fashion label Mandula made its Los Angeles-debut at influential Church boutique at West Hollywood, Calif. May 26.
The Hungarian-born designer Hajnalka Mandula said that her line was meant to evoke a vintage pedigree. “Everything looks like it came from Hungary 100 years ago,” she said.
The label’s shirts, dresses, skirts, vests and pants are often made out of organic cotton. Mandula boils the clothes to give them a crinkled look. Then she often adds vintage buttons, even old leather straps to give her line a unique look. Retail price points range from $200 to $2,500 in U.S. dollars.
Church co-owner Rodney Burns said this high fashion line had a democratic style . “There’s no wrong way to wear it,” he said. “You can layer pieces. You can throw them altogether.”
