The world is still reelingfrom the murder of Ambassador Christopher Stevens, who was killed in an attack on the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi, Libya on Sept. 11. His cousin Matthew Reynolds is co-founder of Indigenous Designs, an organic fashion brand, headquartered in Santa Rosa, Calif. He sent some memories of the slain ambassador to Apparel News.

On Sept. 8, Stevens sent him an email inviting him to Libya for a visit, of course after the situation was secure.Reynolds last saw the ambassador in April, before he shipped out to the North African country.

“Chris was a great man that gave me more than I can ever express in words,” Reynolds said. “ He always encouraged me to follow my dreams and passions of helping to make the world a better place through fair trade and organic fashion.(As) a friend put it the other day, Chris had a quick and searching mind, a deep appreciation of history, and a love of diplomacy as a way to bring people together and improve their lives.”

Condolences can be sent to Ambassador Steven's family via Reynolds' email matt@indigenous.com.
