Calvin Klein and Christy Turlington Together Again

One of our favorite 90s models, Christy Turlington Burns, returns to the luxury underwear brand, Calvin Klein. Calvin Klein Underwear just released its biannual women’s Fall 2013 global advertising campaign, featuring the iconic model-activist Turlington Burns.

Calvin Klein and Turlington Burns go way back. She made her official catwalk appearance for the designer in a 1987 runway show which led to the notable campaign ad in 1988 with Irving Penn.

This season, a seductive black and white series inspired by the brand's ethos, features the now 44, 5’10, green-eyed beauty. Shot by fashion photographer Mario Sorrenti in Vieques, Puerto Rico, the images highlight the sultry side of the mother of two.

“After so many years, it's nice to be back in the Calvin Klein world,” she told Elle magazine. “The most memorable campaign I shot for Calvin Klein was probably either an Eternity fragrance campaign, which I did also in 1988, or a Steven Meisel underwear campaign that I did in the mid to late '90s.”

While leading a promising career in modeling, Turlington Burns also turned to philanthropic work. She directed and produced "No Woman, No Cry" – a documentary film discussing the “global state of maternal health.” Following the release in 2010, she founded Every Mother Counts (EMC), a campaign aimed to improve health conditions for girls and women worldwide. The organization’s mission is to end preventable deaths caused by pregnancy and childbirth.

The Fall 2013 media campaign plays around with a strategic mix of print, digital and outdoor advertising taking creative direction from Calvin Klein’s in-house global marketing and advertising agency. Key pieces in the Calvin Klein Underwear include a bare underwire, a provocative plunge, a lightweight, air gel push-up and a modern tee shirt bra.

The first billboards for the campaign will be installed Aug. 19 at New York’s Houston and Lafayette streets and on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles.
