Migliazzo to Head Big Buddha Showroom at the CMC
After an 11-month stint running an independent showroom, Rose Marie Migliazzo, a veteran businesswoman at the California Market Center showroom building in Los Angeles, is going corporate.
She will change her Romy M showroom into a space for Big Buddha, a division of Steve Madden Ltd. Migliazzo will be vice president merchandising/West Coast sales for the new showroom, which will be located at the Romy M address at suite A1083 at the CMC. The change is taking place in time for the June 10–13 LA Fashion Market.
Migliazzo’s new job is a return engagement. Before running Romy M, she worked as vice president merchandising/West Coast sales for Big Buddha but had chosen not to renew her contract with the company in June 2012. “Steve said he wanted to bring back that Romy buzz,” Migliazzo said of her former employer. Between Big Buddha gigs, she represented independent accessories brands at the Romy M showroom. Previous to Big Buddha, she had been representing independent and corporate brands out of suite A1083 since 1995.
With her new Big Buddha gig, Migliazzo will devote a lot of her time to designing. Big Buddha sales account executive Wendy Campbell also will work out of the CMC showroom.
Big Buddha offers a range of bags and accessories from totes to clutches, satchels luggage and small leather items. The items are vegan friendly, which means they are not made with leather. All Big Buddha items retail under $100. The Big Buddha brand was started in Santa Cruz, Calif., but was acquired by New York–headquartered Steve Madden in early 2010.
