Vans & The Block Collection

Sometimes nothing represents a neighborhood better…than footwear.

Venerable footwear and apparel label Vans recently released its special The Block Collection, a capsule line which is inspired by global streetwear and the look of standout streets. The first streets to be represented in the collection were Fairfax and La Brea avenues in Los Angeles. Fairfax has been hailed as a world destination for streetwear, what with its collection of flagship stores for top streetwear brands. La Brea also is the site of popular streetwear boutiques as well as murals by street art godfather Shepard Fairey, as well as unsanctioned street art by a host of currently unknown Da Vincis and Basquiats.

The Vans party at Los Globos got hazy.

Vans celebrated the collection’s debut out of the ‘hood where its inspirations are rooted. On March 1, at the Echo Park nightclub Los Globos, The Gaslamp Killer headlined a party where he played hip hop and some inspired oddities for the streetwear and club kids in the crowd.
