Kith Pops on Abbot Kinney

New York sneakerhead boutique Kith took its high-end shoes and streetwear looks out west on Feb. 20. It opened a pop-up shop at Venice Beach’s stylish Abbot Kinney Boulevard with a party.

Kith Founder Ronnie Fieg presided over the opening shindig, which was reportedly attended by Victor Cruz of the New York Giants NFL team. The party also might have been an after-party for Liberty Fashion & Lifestyle Fairs, which wrapped up its major Las Vegas show only a couple of days before.

Sam Ben-Avraham, Liberty’s founder, hung out at the party with Liberty Partners Sharifa Murdock and Stephanie Seeley. Ben-Avraham said it was no surprise that the Liberty team would party together after the Feb. 18 close of the curated, but still very big trade show. “This is relaxation,” Ben-Avraham said of the party. “This is my family.” So much for a quick getaway to Hawaii or Mexico.

Also not unusual, the closeness of Kith and Ben-Avraham’s boutique, Atrium. Kith locations are adjacent to Atrium locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn. If Feb. 20 party seemed like an after party, there were many fashion industry faces at the gathering which were familiar to people walking the Liberty show.

Seen at the party, Maxwell Osborne, co-founder of the brand Public School, Groovy Lew, an influential stylist, Stephon Torrence of Jock Hall, a branding and public relations agency, and Brian Nyilas, head buyer of Fred Segal Man in Santa Monica.

The pop up will do business at 1638 Abbot Kinney Blvd., until March 20. Then it is scheduled to revert to its permanent identity, mens boutique, Prize of Venice, said Colin T. McCarthy, a partner in Prize of Venice.
