Donald Drawbertson, King of the Fashion Doodle, to Cooper

Donald Robertson has an alter-ego; Donald Drawbertson, a pop artist who makes whimsical, chic doodles, and brings them to the fashion masses.

Drawbertson continues to make pop art, and a Cadillac bearing his art - kind of a Drawbertson-mobile, will be driving by the Cooper Design Space building in L.A.’s Fashion District noon, Monday, Jan. 12. The occasion will be a traveling exhibit of his work, and the gallery is a vintage 1974 Cadillac El Dorado, painted with one of Drawbertson’s prints.

An added plus for cosmetics fans; a team from Smashbox Cosmetics will be distributing a limited edition of Legendary Lipstick in Bing at the event, which features a Drawbertson design on the sleeve. Smashbox reps are scheduled to dole out the lipsticky stuff for about an hour, or so.

A blog about the Cooper should also be an occasion to talk about a little known fact about the fashion showroom building. Look up at the roof of the Cooper. A pinkish/fuchsia flag with the peace sign is flying with the U.S. flag. As far as I know, no big statement has been made about it. Long may it wave.
