Sheikh Shoes Takes a Downtown Los Angeles Bow

Sheikh Shoes built a reputation as a boutique for high end sneakers and footwear.

When the 140-store, Ontario, Calif.-based chain opened its downtown Los Angeles location on July 9, Sheikh Shoes President Matt Fine said that apparel would make a bigger splash at the store, a new concept which he called Sheikh’s Legacy Level store.

He forecast that 15 percent to 20 percent of the downtown Los Angeles store’s sales would be in apparel, where other stores in his fleet would enjoy five percent apparel sales.

Located at 745 S. Broadway, Sheikh’s Legacy Level store features vignettes for apparel brands like Levi’s, Crooks & Castles and Black Scale.

Along with stocking leading high end footwear brands Nike, Puma, Ewing Athletics and Air Jordan, the 4,200-square-foot store is divided into different vignettes and shoe walls. There’s a shrine for basketball legend Michael Jordan too. A wall devoted to the Air Jordan brand bears a giant neon installation of the number 23; Jordan’s number when he was played for the Chicago Bulls.
