Pobega’s Bowie Inspired Heroes Collection

When David Bowie died last month, the fashion world seemed to be the most shaken. Many fashion people made memorials with words and art. On Feb. 18, designer Valerj Pobega introduced a capsule collection honoring the influential performer, composer and artist.

Pobega’s collection, called Heroes, after the 1977 Bowie anthem, made its debut at Decades boutique in West Hollywood. She said that Bowie had been an influence throughout her life. “He gave me courage to follow my dreams,” she said.

Instead of models, Pobega used mimes to show the collection. Early in his career, Bowie performed as a mime.

The 10-piece collection included hand painted silks. The garments featured lyrics from Heroes and inspirations from iconic Bowie poses such as his Ashes To Ashes video and The Man Who Fell To Earth. Take a look.
