Melrose Ave To Get Wheels – With New Shuttle

Los Angeles’ Melrose Avenue has a long history of being the address to innovative boutiques. But the fabled boulevard also has been dogged by the same complaint year after year. The city blocks are too long, and walking from shop to shop can turn into a hike.

Enter the Melrose Shopping Shuttle. The free shuttle will cruise through the shopping district every Saturday and Sunday in July. The Melrose BID partnered with electric car service ParkPlace Cali for the project. It is sponsored by the BID several Melrose businesses including Cosmo & Nathalia, The Groundlings, Love Baked Wings and Manic Panic. The seven-seat shuttle will pick up passengers at marked stops on the 22-block corridor.

The service will run 12 to 7PM Saturdays and Sundays in July, but if it is judged popular, the shuttle will continue running through Fall, according to a Melrose BID statement.
