Brit Artist Chemical X’s Limited Edition Line Raises Funds for L.A.’s Homeless

After making graphics and art installations for musicians and art galleries, the British artist Chemical X made a limited edition line of tees for Los Angeles’ homeless.

The tees and hoodies feature Chemical X’s logo. Proceeds from the line will go to the non-profit Los Angeles Community Action Network. One of its board members is Melina Abdullah, a co-founder of the Los Angeles Chapter of Black Lives Matter.

Chemical X, who does not divulge his birth name, recently made his US debut at a Nov. 8 -10 art show at the former Tower Record building in West Hollywood. He said that he was not prepared by the extent of the poverty in Los Angeles’ Skid Row. It pushed him into activism.

“When I first encountered Skid Row my response was shock. My artistic response was Skid Rodeo Drive, an installation of 12 tents dressed in the luxury brands of Rodeo Drive and installed in the heart of Skid Row. It was a powerful piece that I’m building into an international artwork to share with the world,” Chemical X said in a prepared statement.

Chemical X’s limited line for LACAN will be sold until Dec. 15 at Los Angeles-headquartered new media platform TELL.tv
