Miami Heat | Cruise '14

Swimwear was hotter than hot at this year’s Miami Swim Week. And so were the newest trends, which designers presented on the runways and trade shows held in Miami Beach July 18–23. From scuba-inspired styles to ethnic chic, swimwear has turned into an art form. There were plenty of neoprene, intricate strapping, original artwork and high-tech construction. Surf-inspired looks and rashguards are the new must haves while mesh fabrications, crochet and black-and-white color palettes are key for the season. Look for sporty activewear, tropical island kitsch and sexy Bond Girl looks to heat up the beach this season. —N. Jayne Seward

Fall Style

Designers showing at LA Fashion Week played on the city's multi-faceted lifestyle. From casual-chic street looks and denim to red-carpet gowns, there was plenty of variety on the runway. Key trends included shorts, military chic, sexy crop tops, luxe leather and black-and-white color palettes. Fall In —to the Season’s Hottest Trends

The recent trade shows in Las Vegas offered a look at some of the hottest new trends for Fall ’13. From printed pullovers to matching “twin sets,” the look was sportswear chic. Tried-and-true classics such as motocross looks and vintage styling continued but with updated fabrics and details. Oxblood, olive and black-and-white color combos stood out as key palettes. Denim spanned the gamut from acid wash and distressed treatments to eco-friendly processes and novelty fabrications. Colorful ’60s-inspired shifts, scuba chic dresses, sweatshirt styling and two-tone paneled pants were key silhouettes. Look for optical patterns, snake prints and plenty of camouflage to make a statement this season. —N. Jayne Seward

Spring 2013 Runway Report

Los Angeles Fashion Week showcased West Coast style as key trends emerged on the runway Oct. 10-20. Designers presented collections that ranged from sporty leathers to romantic dresses and sophisticated suitings. There was plenty of color to brighten up the season. Soft pastels were abundant, and bright neons added an '80s edge. Vibrant prints and graphic black-and-white patterns created an artsy touch. Las Vegas Trends: Pop Goes Spring

"Girls just wanna have fun" could be the fashion mantra this Spring as prints, neon brights and an '80s revival lighten up Fall's serious mood. That was the look designers presented at the recent Las Vegas trade shows, which ran Aug. 20-23. And in true '80s style, it was a colorful affair. From pastels to printed denim and ethnic patterns, the look was all about eye-catching fashion. For those who prefer a clean aesthetic, bold and bright accessories made the fashion statement. Here are the key looks of the season.

Miami Swim Week 2012: Cruise Control

Themes from South Beach chic to Slim Aarons-inspired retro glamour set the Cruise control for 2013. During Miami Swim Week, designers from the around the world showcased their collections-and all the key trends of the season. South Beach's Art Deco district, ethnic allure, and the ocean and surf lifestyles were key inspirations. Pastel hues and prints of all kinds were statement making as were coordinating resort sets. Think conversational prints, ethnic patterns, scarf prints and scenic Hawaiian imagery on swimwear and matching coverups. Lingerie had a major influence this season as underwires and corset tops were back in full force. And leotards, tube suits, crop tops and rash guards are breakout fashion silhouettes. Retro styling continued with high waists, and details such as keyholes, cutouts and dramatic strapping have the season all wrapped up. Here are key looks of the season.
