Real estate developer Steve Wynn has submitted plans to convert Las Vegas’ historic Desert Inn into an upscale resort complete with a 45-story tower and a four-acre lake; Wynn’s previous Las Vegas projects include the Bellagio, Mirage and Treasure Island hotels; the plans also call for 2,455 rooms, 70,000 square feet of retail space and 132,000 square feet of convention space; the entire project—-estimated to cost more than $1.2 billion—-is awaiting approval by county officials...Swedish retailer H&M announced plans to open a second New York store on West 34th Street, across from Macy’s flagship Herald Square store; the 40,000-square-foot store is expected to open in late 2002...Miami-based Perry Ellis Inc.’s Supreme International division has struck a licensing deal with New York-based Nautica Enterprises Inc. to manufacture corporate apparel, bags and accessories under the Nautical label; the agreement covers the United States and Canada...Beaverton, Ore.-based activewear manufacturer Adidas has expanded its licensing agreement with Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based Valley Apparel Company, granting Valley Apparel rights to manufacture and market Adidas products in conjunction with licensed lines National Football League, Major League Baseball, Major Soccer League, Collegiate Licensing Company and certain Adidas collegiate partners.
