MAGIC: Fall Forward

Fur, fur and more fur—that was the biggest news for Fall 2001 at the Elements fashion show held in the Sands Expo during WWDMAGIC.

Fur jackets, vests and coats came in real or faux versions that varied from colorful and funky to straight-up sophisticated.

But that wasn’t all. Color played a very strong roll. Black and white continues forward looking as sharp as ever, especially in this seasons ever-popular houndstooth check print. Want something to make your mouth water? Fall colors come in chocolate, honey, vanilla, plum and nutmeg. (They may not be edible, but they’re definitely wearable.)

And finally, denim, denim and more denim was the other big news from MAGIC. Denim came every which way but simple. Painted, frayed, patched, graffiti-printed, studded, dusted and rusted styles were all shown indicating a continuation of the eighties influence, which seems to be proving that too much is never enough.—Joselle Yokogawa, Fashion Editor
