Enforcement of labor laws has dropped off dramatically in California since 1980, according to a recent study released by the California Works Foundation, which looked at the garment, restaurant and janitorial industries; the organization, which is backed by organized labor, cited underfunding, staffing ratios and number of inspections as contributing to a decline in enforcement of laws covering wages, hours, health and safety...Los Angeles-based XOXO recently signed a licensing agreement with Gottex in which the New York-based company will produce swimwear and cover-ups under the XOXO label; Anaheim-based Lunada Bay Corp. previously held the XOXO license, which expired this month.
