Audi Sponsors L.A. Designers' Shows

The second run of Audi presents Designer Collections of Los Angeles Fashion Week, featuring shows by a new roster of designers, will be held during Los Angeles’ November market.

Cornell Collins, David Cardona, Eduardo Lucero, Tree and Jared Gold will each present a show in back-to-back runway presentations on Nov. 2 at Tibitz Creative Stages, an industrial warehouse in Hollywood. The space is currently undergoing renovations for the fashion shows, and upon completion of the work, it will include two runways, a lounge area and food concession stands.

“It’s a great way to get East Coast buyers out here to Los Angeles,” said Cardona. “It’s definitely more of a group effort than a competitive thing.”

SPR, the Los Angeles-based fashion public relations agency that is organizing the event, announced that there is a sixth slot opening up for a designer. Grey Ant designer Grant Krajecki was part of the original lineup for the show but decided to pull out in order to shift his focus to producing his new secondary line called Treat Me Right. (Krajecki will be participating in a later event, dubbed The Fierce and the Fabulous, on Nov. 5.)

“It’s very new for Audi to sponsor events like this,” said Margaret Schell, co-owner of SPR. “They see it as an opportunity to reach out to a new market because they feel their drivers have a sense of style about them and appreciate good design. It’s also an opportunity to associate themselves with events that promote their business in the market.”

The show will be co-sponsored by Sebastian International, which will provide assistance with hair and makeup designs for the runway models, and Jet Blue, which will provide services to editors from national and international fashion publications, including Harper’s Bazaar and InStyle.

The event is invitation-only. Invitation requests can be faxed to SPR at (323) 662-8006. —Claudia Figueroa
