CDC Fashion Show to Salute Film Costumers

California Design College (CDC) will host its 11th Annual Graduation Fashion Show Gala, titled “Trendsetters in Film: A Tribute to Hollywood Icons of the Silver Screen,” on June 6 at 6 p.m. at the Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. The evening’s honoree, actress Esther Williams, will host the event, which features a star-studded fashion show.

The event will serve as a fundraiser for the Actor’s Fund of America and the Mannequins of Assistance League of Southern California.

In the fashion show, CDC student designers will present a 39-piece collection of modern variations on classic film costume designs by Orry-Kelly, Edith Head and Adrian.

Williams, a professional swimmer who got her start in show business as an aquatic performer under contract at MGM Studios and who currently designs her own swim line, will be among several celebrities taking part in the event. Those participating in the fashion show will include Kelly Preston, Lesley Ann Warren, Bill Brochtrup, Beth Broderick, Florence Henderson, Tippi Hedren and Tai Babilonia, according to organizers.

Tickets for the event start at $50 for general admission. For more information, call (213) 251-3636. —Claudia Figueroa
