No Confidence
The Consumer Confidence index fell to 62.5 in March from 64.8 in February, according to the Conference Board. Lynn Franco, director of the New York-based research firm’s Consumer Research Center, released a statement noting that while a quick resolution to the Middle East conflict would likely “ease some of the uncertainties facing consumers” and boost consumer confidence, “it is the economic fundamentals that will determine whether a rebound is sustainable.”
