L.A. Fashion Week Spring '04: Susanelizabeth
Swimwear designer Susan Hubbard worked as the head designer at Jill Stuart before entering the swimwear business and launching her own swimsuit collection, Susanelizabeth. This is the designer’s second season in business, and she presented her Spring 2004 collection on Oct. 31 at Mercedes-Benz Shows L.A.
The New York–based designer worked lace and chiffon fabrications into the collection for an upscale St-Tropez feel. “It’s for the woman who wants to go from the beach into a nightclub,” Hubbard said.
Silhouettes included a golden-brown string bikini, a French-lace embroidered bikini with ring detail, a white Lycra cowl-neck one-piece and a zipfront chiffon coverup jacket with a hood. Details included tiny disc ornaments, ring closures and buckles—each dipped in 18-karat gold. —C.F.
