Indra Signs On Penguin, Tail Brands

Penguin Sport has signed on to use the Escape suite of order-management software from San Diego–based Indra Technology Inc.

Penguin Sport, the subsidiary of Miamibased Perry Ellis International Inc. that gained popularity in the 1950s as a golf brand, has reemerged as a fashion item for young men and women. Perry Ellis brands Ping Collection and Jantzen have also purchased the system.

Penguin Sport sales representatives will use Escape to manage and process orders in the field. The sales reps will be able to update catalogs and get the up-to-date status of all orders, regardless of location, according to Indra Chief Executive Officer Jim Beavers.Users usually see a return on investment within six months, he said.

Miami-based golf and tennis apparel maker Tail Inc. has signed on to use the Escape WebSuite, which provides online ordering and account management. The system allows buyers to order and check on products online 24 hours a day. WebSuite links to wholesalers’ Web sites and automatically updates inventory.
