Burke Joins Dickies Girl

Chris Burke has joined juniors casual apparel maker Dickies Girl as marketing director. He reports to Masud Sarshar, chief executive officer and president.

The company, which launched two years ago, reported sales increased 40 percent for 2003 at specialty retail accounts including Urban Outfitters Inc., Hot Topic Inc., Torrid and Ron Jon Surf Shop.

Burke joins Dickies Girl with more than 15 years experience in marketing activewear and accessories. Previously, he served as creative director of Arnette in New York and Von Zipper Ltd. in Irvine, Calif. In his new position, he will oversee the marketing department, which includes advertising, public relations, retail support, trade shows, promotional events and the company’s Web site.

Plans for Dickies Girl marketing strategies include aggressive promotion of the brand nationally and overseas, Burke said.
