Charney Prepares for FIG Event in October

American Apparel Senior Partner Dov Charney toured the pediatrics wing of the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on June 22 as part of his preparations for the Fashion Industries Guild’s upcoming annual fund-raiser for the medical center.

Charney will share the Man of the Year award with Jem Sportswear President Jeff Marine at the Oct. 2 event, which will be held at The Regent Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills.

The Fashion Industries Guild has been raising money for Cedars-Sinai and its pediatric programs for the past 13 years. FIG’s efforts have helped to build the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). This year, the fund raising will help establish the center’s Neurological Development Program, which will track children who were born prematurely into their toddler years and ensure that they have the proper medical attention and stimulation to foster healthy brain development. “Even a healthy baby that goes home is at risk if they don’t have access to healthcare,” said Dr. Charles F. Simmons Jr., who heads the NICU. —Alison A. Nieder
