City of Hope to Honor Kapor and Cohen

Duarte, Calif.–based City of Hope National Medical Center and Beckman Research Institute will present its Spirit of Life Award to attorney Jeffrey Kapor of Buchalter, Nemer, Fields & Younger and Mitchell Cohen, senior vice president and Western regional manager of CIT Commercial Services, at the center’s annual benefit gala on June 12 at The Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills.

Kapor is a longtime supporter of the City of Hope. He served as president of the medical center’s Professions and Finance Associates group in 1991 and 1992. In addition to being a shareholder in the Los Angeles office of Buchalter, Nemer, Fields & Younger, he has served on the board of directors for TheWest Coast Father’s Day Council, a nonprofit organization that raises funds for juveniles with diabetes, and on the board of directors for The Jewish Community Centers of Los Angeles. Kapor received the Chairman Award and Humanitarian Award from the National Jewish Medical and Research Center in 1999.

Cohen is a member of the board of trustees for the National Jewish Medical and Research Center. He is also a recipient of the National Jewish Medical and Research Center’s Humanitarian Award.

Founded in 1913, the City of Hope National Medical Center and Beckman Research Institute is a research and treatment center for people suffering from cancer, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening diseases. The annual gala raises money to benefit City of Hope’s treatment, research and education programs.
