Kitson owner Fraser Ross (right) celebrated the debut of Betty & Veronica clothing and accessories on May 24 with buyer Christina Minasian (middle) and sales associate Mimi Kang (left) at his fashionable store on Robertson Boulevard and Third Street in Los Angeles.

The Betty & Veronica collection is based on the classic Archie Comics Entertainment characters of the same name. In late 2003, movie studio Miramax Films asked Ross if he would be interested in having an exclusive on the collection. “We knew if Fraser thought it was going to work, indeed it would work,” said Lori Sale, Miramax’s executive vice president of worldwide promotions.

Kitson has an exclusive until August to sell the collection’s hoodies, T-shirts and cashmere sweaters, priced from $28 to $400.

Ross believes the comic characters’ roots guarantee a hit. “It’s American pop culture,” he said. —Andrew Asch
