BCBG, Li & Fung Get Gerber WebPDM

Los Angeles–based BCBG Max Azria continues to streamline its product development model with investments in technology.

The company will use the WebPDM software application from Tolland, Conn.–based Gerber Technology Inc. to manage line-sheet development and distribution.

BCBG experienced a 70 percent upturn in wholesale distribution in the past year. After launching new lines, including BCBGirls, and relaunching To the Max this fall, BCBG is looking to improve its operating efficiency to handle any spike in orders the company may receive, said Ashesh Amin, senior vice president of sourcing and production.

“We chose WebPDM to help us streamline our processes, enabling us to grow while simultaneously decreasing costs and increasing efficiencies,” Amin said. “We will eventually adopt it throughout the organization, including our manufacturing sites in Hong Kong, Mexico and Budapest.”

The company will interface WebPDM with its existing Gerber AccuMark pattern design, grading and marking system.

Gerber has also placed WebPDM with New York–based Li & Fung USA Inc., which is looking to improve the accessibility of product specs throughout its supply chain to minimize errors and delays.

Li & Fung USA is the U.S. arm of Hong Kong–based trading company Li & Fung Ltd., which manages supply-chain logistics for a number of industries, including apparel. —R.M.
